About This Special Issue
We live in a world full of continuous changes and increasing environmental hazards. Need of the hour is to come up with the latest sensor technologies that can assess the dangers associated with these changes. Thus, we are in dire need of various sensor platforms that be can be used in both urban and rural environments. In the last five decades, researchers all around the world have put in efforts to come up with different sensing devices based on solid state technology. Though they achieved high sensitivities, low cost, user friendly, high throughput devices, there still exists dearth for multifunctional and reliable devices. Also, they should be capable enough to detect the required element to the minute possible level and such platforms should communicate data wirelessly to varied ranges. This special issue will provide a collection of state-of-the-art research papers discussing multidisciplinary research covering innovative topics on the fundamental and applied research aspects of sensors. Research related to sensor device fabrication, simulation, integration in to a system, deployment, and data processing, which meets any of the above criteria, is suitable for publication in this special issue. These advanced sensors technologies include: optical fibers, SAW sensors, MEMS, signal processing in analytical sensors, multisensory systems, electronics noses, olfactory systems etc.
