Guidelines for Submission
Manuscripts can be submitted until the expiry of the deadline. Submissions must be previously unpublished and may not be under consideration elsewhere.

By submitting your manuscripts to the special issue, you are acknowledging that you accept the rules established for publication of manuscripts, including agreement to pay the Article Processing Charges for the manuscripts. . All papers will be peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal and will be listed together on the special issue website.

In the current scenario more and more tourism destinations are under pressure to sustain their attractiveness in order to remain competitive (Krešić and Prebežac, 2011). For this reason, in the last decades the study of tourist destinations has been more and more at the centre of international academic debate. Many authors (Viassone, 2012; Cracolici and Nijkamp, 2008) have emphasized the importance of tourism attractiveness but the management of tourist destinations involves a high number of stakeholders who could be more or less willing to cooperate together. For this reason investigating the way the government manages tourist destinations (Zhang, 2011) at different levels (international, national, local) is very important to assure them a path of sustainable development.
In this scenario it becomes interesting to study the role that governance of tourist destinations plays on their attractiveness/competitiveness and vice versa. An attempt to individuate drivers at the base of these two dimensions and to measure them could allow to assess how to increase their positions and draw future strategies.We solicit for papers (contemporary reviews, original research papers, case studies, perspectives, views and opinion on this topic) from researchers, scientists, lecturers from all around the world.
This special issue could serve as a starting point for destinations that would like to change or review their strategies, policies, scientific methods and to address issues that presently affect or will affect the society in the future.
