Introduction
Libya and Sudan have been home to various civilizations since the earliest times. Scientific studies on many civilizations that existed in a large geography and then disappeared attracted the attention of the world's scientific circles in the early 19th century. Nowadays, scientific studies on these geographies continue with increasing interest. It is accepted by everyone that academic studies conducted in the Western world over the last 200 years have lifted the mystery of these countries. However, with the emergence of new documents and findings, the viewpoint of scientists on these geographies has changed.
This Special issue will focus on Libya and Sudan. The lead guest editor mainly focuses on the Ottoman period in Libya, the Senusi movement, the political developments in Libya after the Italian occupation and the independence process. He conducted detailed research on the Ottoman administrative structure in Libya, the economic structure of Libya, including the slave trade and banking activities, the ethnic structure, the Ottoman exiles and the Senusi movement.
The special issue aims to work on Ottoman sovereignty and administrative practices in Sudan, the reasons for the emergence of the Mahdi Movement and the factors that paved the way for this movement, British occupation activities in Sudan and the struggle of the Mahdi Movement against it.
