Introduction
Public policies for environmental control are outdated. Pressures from companies on legislators make current environmental legislation incapable of guaranteeing the reduction of harmful emissions on biota. The imposition of man in the centre of environmental norms expurges the concept of ecocentrism, causing the extinction of several species of fauna, flora and damage to the soil and atmospheric air. This special edition aims to discuss new techniques for environmental monitoring and control, capable of sensitizing governments of developed and developing countries to change their environmental protection standards. So that future generations can enjoy a healthy environment and capable of ensuring the continuity of human development and the species of the Earth.
