About This Special Issue
Mineral and metal extractive industries play a significant role in the economic development of all nations and flotation is one of the key areas to bring forth necessary metals and several finished products of minerals origined from ores. Flotation is a physico-chemical beneficiation process that makes use of the surface attributes differences of the precious and waste minerals. It is strongly affected by several variables pertinent to the floated ore such as surface characteristics, liberation degree, particles size distribution, grade, etc. and to the process variables (air flowrate, reagent type and dosage, pH, etc.). The purpose of this special issue is to review recent advances in flotation process and to project current state-of-the-art technology in future mineral processing.
We invite contributions to this Special Issue on aspects listed in the keywords, covering recent advances and innovations in flotation process, which will be of direct interest to researchers and practitioners in the mineral processing field. Contributions reporting on mineral surface chemistry, fundamental knowledge of chemical reagents, the development and design of novel reagents, mechanism exploration of mineral/reagent interactions using advanced tools and instruments, bioflotation and electroflotation, modeling and optimization are especially welcome.

Aims and Scope:

  1. Minerals flotation (sulfide oxides, silicates, sparingly soluble minerals, iron minerals, rare earth minerals, etc.)
  2. Reagents (collectors, depressants, dispersants, etc.)
  3. Flotation kinetics
  4. Surface chemistry
  5. Mineral chemistry (surface reactivity, surface broken bonds, surface energy, wettability, surface hydration, surface charge, etc.)
  6. Mineral/reagent interaction
  7. Bioflotation
  8. Environmental issues
  9. Fine particles
  10. Control and modeling
  11. Optimization
