About This Special Issue
From the past few years, the Future Internet and Car 2 Car Communications (C2CC) have attracted much research attention. Forthcoming technologies are expected to work in the environments where there is no direct connection between communicating nodes. Recently, Content Centric Networking (CCN) has been proposed for the Future Internet. CCN mainly shifts the communication concept from host-based to the information centric. In traditional communication networks, it is mandatory that a node in the network must be assigned its unique ID (e.g. IP address). However, CCN replaces this concept by introducing contents with names. Since CCN is at an early bud stage, many issues are still unidentified and open. Therefore, the feasibility of applying the CCN concept to vehicular communications/environment is not that much straightforward. Vehicular Content centric networking is also facing a number of challenges such as naming, name resolution, routing or forwarding strategies, content storing, management and policy of forwarding information base and pending interest table management, security and trust issues, etc.

This special issue would like to solicit original contributions regarding recent developments and ideas in vehicular content centric networks and car 2 car communications. The topics to be covered include, but are not limited to:

1. MAC, Naming, and Transport for VCCN/C2CC.
2. Car 2 Car Communication applications.
3. Vehicular Content Centric Network Applications.
4. Vehicular Content Centric Network prototypes and architectures.
6. Vehicular Content Centric Networks performance modeling and analysis.
7. Cross-layer design and optimization for Vehicular CCNs/C2CC.
8. Reliability and fault tolerance in Vehicular CCNs/C2CC.
9. Localization and location management in CCNs/C2CC.
10. Security and privacy issues in CNNs/C2CC.
11. Resource allocation and QoS support in VCCNs/C2CC.
