Manuscripts can be submitted until the expiry of the deadline. Submissions must be previously unpublished and may not be under consideration elsewhere.
Papers should be formatted according to the guidelines for authors (see: http://www.sciencepublishinggroup.com/journal/guideforauthors?journalid=151). By submitting your manuscripts to the special issue, you are acknowledging that you accept the rules established for publication of manuscripts, including agreement to pay the Article Processing Charges for the manuscripts. Manuscripts should be submitted electronically through the online manuscript submission system at http://www.sciencepublishinggroup.com/login. All papers will be peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal and will be listed together on the special issue website.

Introduction
The increase in elderly people worldwide is a problem and a challenge for the sciences. From the social sciences to the health sciences, aging is a research focus that requires innovative contributions.

Innovative contributions in the research proposals made in the elderly can contribute to expand a culture of interest towards aging. These contributions can be conceptual, theoretical, innovations for practice; all focused on aging and old age as a stage of life.

Medicine, psychology, nursing, rehabilitation and other sciences have looked at aging, have laid the foundations for a future development of research from their own disciplinary components and have brought multiple knowledge to this stage of life.

This special issue on Innovation in geriatric and gerontological research aims to focus advances in health sciences research towards the elderly. Its variability in relation to geriatric and gerontological research will allow to increase the body of knowledge of aging.
