Nowadays understanding the development and your sustainable bases is still a challenge. For this reason, environmental and sustainability planning and management gather a set of collective and organized actions to establish legal bases that ensure effective and sustainable decisions. The society, other users and, interested needs to access to the scientific knowledge produced to be used to support decisions and stimulating the participation and legitimating of all. This special edition will produce critical reflections of diverse interpretations that allow the reader to elaborate his own evaluation on the topics covered.

The sustainability focus is not only about preserving natural resources but also democratizing a responsibility for their use and conservation. Transformations in the environment cannot be driven solely by profit or by the logic of maladaptive exploitation. It is essential that the environment is not attacked by poor practices without human and environmental health awareness. There is still an urgent need to discuss environmental and sustainability planning and management in various levels and scales to generate a positive and constructive image of analytical models. Sustainable development requires information to fill as existing gaps and incorporate new unsuitable issues.
