Guidelines for Submission
Manuscripts can be submitted until the expiry of the deadline. Submissions must be previously unpublished and may not be under consideration elsewhere.
Papers should be formatted according to the guidelines for authors (see: http://www.sciencepublishinggroup.com/journal/guideforauthors?journalid=226
). By submitting your manuscripts to the special issue, you are acknowledging that you accept the rules established for publication of manuscripts, including agreement to pay the Article Processing Charges for the manuscripts. Manuscripts should be submitted electronically through the online manuscript submission system at http://www.sciencepublishinggroup.com/login
. All papers will be peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal and will be listed together on the special issue website.

The special issue Advanced Funtional Materials focuses on novel functionalized (nano) materials, surfaces and coatings, and related technologies and applications. It explores topics ranging from fundamental processes at surfaces, functional coatings, synthesis of functional materials, self-assembly of nanomaterials, new energy materials, polymer and composite materials, radiation modified materials, microfabrication, biofunctional materials, microelectronic materials, and materials processing technologies. This issue will highlight current research via a number of perspectives articles, as well as a collection of original research papers. It is at the same time a nice forum and an international platform for experts, researchers and decision makers from industry to communicate, explore, and discuss knowledge in the field of advanced functional materials and surfaces and processes leading to these unique materials.
