Introduction
Earthquake is a phenomenon that originates or results from the complex activities occurring in the interior of the earth. It is an indication of ongoing natural evolution processes of the earth which is beyond the human control. Actually, the earth balances all its natural activities through an energy balance ecosystem or energy transfer mechanism in a cyclic manner. Once this ecosystem gets affected, the resulting outcome pushes the door to disaster known as seismic hazard.

It is well established that earthquakes are mainly generated due to the plate movements. These movements are more predominant near the plate boundaries. Therefore, most of the earthquakes are frequently observed near the plate margins.

Accurate or reliable estimation of ground motion for future earthquakes is one of the major challenging issues in the earthquake engineering field; as this is the key input parameter for earthquake resistant design of man-made structures. It helps to evaluate the possible expected earthquake lateral load/thrust that may be subjected on a particular structure during its design life/period.

However, we are seeking contributions from the field of seismology, seismic hazard, site response, liquefaction, seismic risk assessment, earthquake resistant design, & microzonation.
