Introduction
This work concentrated on two laminar hard wooden beams. From the laboratory test results, the maximum load the beam can carry is 43kN having a maximum deflection of 3mm, This satisfies permissible deflection which must be ≤ 0.003 span or 14mm. ANSYS software analysis predicted that the maximum load the beam can carry is 40kN for both tests while the maximum deflection is 2.5mm for compression test and 1.6mm for tension. This also satisfies the permissible deflection which is less than allowable value of 14mm. Hence, the two results satisfy permissible deflection making the specimen timbers suitable as laminated deep beam for construction of industrial buildings. Other advantages of the beam include the availability and its structural stability. Deflection results of the two specimens species used as case study (teak: Tectonia Grandis and iroko: Melicia Excelsa), showed that teak is 0.985 of iroko even when there they were not clamped.
