Guidelines for Submission
Manuscripts can be submitted until the expiry of the deadline. Submissions must be previously unpublished and may not be under consideration elsewhere.
Papers should be formatted according to the guidelines for authors (see: http://www.sciencepublishinggroup.com/journal/guideforauthors?journalid=247). By submitting your manuscripts to the special issue, you are acknowledging that you accept the rules established for publication of manuscripts, including agreement to pay the Article Processing Charges for the manuscripts. Manuscripts should be submitted electronically through the online manuscript submission system at http://www.sciencepublishinggroup.com/login. All papers will be peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal and will be listed together on the special issue website.

With the improvement of people’s living standards, the research on smart cities is becoming more and more mature, and the problem of improving the quality of life of urban residents is attracting the attention of researchers. Fog calculations are expected to play an important role in the future smart city. It extends the cloud infrastructure by processing and storing data between Internet of Things (IoT) devices and cloud platforms. Traditional cloud infrastructure cannot manage large amounts of data generated by small IoT devices for real-time processing. The above issues require a scalable, efficient and secure fog-assisted infrastructure to provide optimal service to users. This Special Issue invites contributions that address the latest issues and advances in smart applications based on future smart cities and their associated data security. In particular, submitted papers should clearly show novel contributions and innovative applications covering, but not limited to, any of the following topics based on fog and edge Computing and their practical application in smart cities
