This special issue will have as main objective, to disseminate works of international scope on bioclimatology and ambience; Animal production and nutrition; Animal welfare; Technology of animal products in the area of swine. We chose this theme for the importance of the area of swine farming and of these sub-areas mentioned above, realizing that we need unpublished works and results for possible future work that may help to stimulate new research to improve the area. Animal welfare can be considered one of the three major challenges of agriculture in recent years, along with environmental and food safety issues, and swine farming is an even greater challenge, as the product is the most consumed worldwide. Pig farming is a dynamic system and interacts with several factors, which in synergy can improve the productive efficiency of the stock and consequently the economic efficiency of the pig production chain. The main factors necessary for the proper development of production animals are genetics, nutrition, environment, management and interaction between them, all of these factors influence a good or poor quality product. The intensive production of pigs has as one of the main characteristics the separation of the animals by categories. The nutritional and management strategies of each animal phase, or each category, is based on the fact that in each of them the nutritional requirement of the animals is altered according to their physiological state. The nutrients supplied in the diet are then directed to meet the physiological demand of the category, either for muscle deposition of growing animals, immune defense in a health challenge condition, fetal development during pregnancy, or simply for maintenance of the adult animal. Considering that each animal has different nutritional requirements during a certain period of life, it is of fundamental importance that nutritionists know them in order to elaborate strategies that best meet these requirements, aiming for a higher productivity with lower production costs, exploiting the excellent performance of animals is in any category. We have a lot of research to explore and disseminate for further knowledge, especially in the area of this special issue.
