• From the first minutes of life, an adequate nutrition is an integral part of child’s health. Child’s diet has to meets the needs in all macronutrients. Moreover, it is extremely important, to meets the needs of the child in such component of the diet, so called as micronutrients - vitamins, minerals, essential polyunsaturated fatty acids. It is necessary to consider all issues in the age aspect. A large section should be devoted to the nutrition of pregnant and lactating women, the composition of breast milk, and the possible role of breastfeeding in the prevention of various diseases in children. Publications related to the influence of various diets on the micronutrient status of the child, including diets for medical reasons, as well as limited nutrition associated with following a vegetarian diet should be also included. Of interest are also studies of the effect of various diets on the composition of the intestinal microbiota. Original research, literature reviews and expert opinions in this field should be submitted to special issue. In the issue, I would also like to present a review of international consensus documents and features of national approaches to the correction of micronutrient status in children at different age periods. If the editors find the proposed topic of the issue too broad, then I would suggest that the issue be completely devoted to vegetarianism in children. It would be important to collect national experience from around the world, since on the other hand, vegetarianism is gaining more and more popularity, and on the other hand, it is associated with certain nutritional risks. In particular, our center recently completed a study on vegetarian children and we are ready to share our experience.
