Abstract: Postgraduate education is based on the student being an adult with a certain professional motivation, responsible and capable of making decisions, who assigns a value to what he studies and tries to apply in a pertinent way to his social environment, where the success of his study is based on self-management of learning and the development of the capacity for autonomy. Distance learning is conceived today as a response of contemporary society to the growing social demands of education, as well as the conceptions around the objectives and scope of the educational phenomenon, as the scenarios in which this takes place in the called the information age. In Cuba, distance education is part of the educational strategy; it has been an effective response to carry out higher level studies. All knowledge is influenced by the conditions of the environment where it is created and developed. In the online environment, this complexity grows as learning and knowledge building are mediated differently. As online professors build relationships between students and engage in unconventional but authentic instruction, they must be aware of the ways context as a deeply informative part of understanding educational outcomes. This paper offers the Cuban experiences in mining and energy sector using distance learning for postgraduate education of enterprise managers.

Abstract: Background: Laboratory practices offer students the opportunity to develop manipulative skills, experimental experience and the capability to plan trials and interpret experimental data. Instead of conventional teaching methods, laboratory experience better for the development of conceptual understanding of sciences. Thus, the absence of safety in the laboratory room can affect the health of students, staff and the environment. Objectives: The aim of this study is to improve safety practices in teaching laboratory rooms of Bule Hora University, Institute of Health, 2021. Methodology: A descriptive survey study was used from November 15 to 20, 2020, among staff at the Bule Hora University Health Institute. From two purposively selected departments, 17 academic staff and lab assistants were enrolled in the study. Data were collected through a self-administered questionnaire and observations. Finally, the data were coded and entered into SPSS version 20 for analysis. Based on the findings of the assessment, action was planned and implemented, and then the improvement was evaluated at the end. Results: Of the respondents, 58.8% did not regularly inspect the safety of laboratory rooms, while 77% did not ever receive training on laboratory safety. The observation revealed that lack of labeling and proper storage of regents, lack cleanliness of work, absence of covering laboratory equipment and lack of waste drainage, good ventilation and water flow were major factors affecting laboratory safety. Conclusion: Implementation during applied research improved laboratory safety, but we conclude that continuous safety management from everyone is needed.

Abstract: The aim of the article is to introduce, frame, and critically discuss the approach of the International Graduate Center (IGC) of Bremen City University of Applied Sciences, Germany, to integrate sustainability into its operation and teaching by applying a holistic model which is based on the idea of the “Economy for the Common Good” (ECG). Grounded in the fundamental idea of the “common good”, referring to material, cultural or institutional facilities which community members provide to all to satisfy relational obligations, the ECG calls for new modes of direct participation. It is based on the core values subsidiarity, cooperation, and solidarity, placing a high emphasis on the development of awareness, responsibility, and community involvement. Although it is common for most universities today to address environmental sustainability and/or sustainable development in some form, integrative or holistic approaches to sustainability are still the exception. The article put the ECG framework in relation to other methods to implement and assess sustainability in higher education, especially in business schools, and will outline the impact it can have on major stakeholder groups like students, faculty, and staff. In a case-based approach data were collected through interviews with the case institution’s stakeholders. The data collection process was further supported by document analysis and observations of the case institution’s campus environment. This contribution is one of the first on the usability of the ECG matrix in higher education. It attempts to offer a comprehensive view of the initiatives adopted by the case institution to incorporate sustainability into education, research, campus operations, and outreach programmes. The study shows limitations of the ECG matrix in the context of higher education and make suggestions on how ECG could be better aligned with higher education. It also shows the way in which organisational change can occur and lead to improved accountability and changes in sustainability performance.

Abstract: The ultimate purpose of reading is to understand what you're reading. However, attaining grade-appropriate reading comprehension levels provides a unique difficulty for deaf and hard-of-hearing (d/hh) students. Accordingly, it assess reading comprehension strategies use of each of the grades 5-12 and determines the overall reading comprehension strategies use of all the participant deaf students of MekaneEyesus School for the Deaf. For the investigation, a descriptive research design was chosen to describe the different reading comprehension strategies use of deaf students. Twenty one grade 5-12 deaf students were selected randomly to be included in this pilot study. The data were collected through Cognitive Awareness of Reading Strategies Inventory (CARSI) adapted based on the objectives of the study and its related literature. The results of the survey were evaluated with descriptive statistics in SPSS Version 21 (mean, std. deviation, frequency and percentage). The results revealed that medium level global reading strategies subscale use mean (M= 3.26, SD = .69) with the majority of the sample 10 (47.6%) reporting medium level use of Global Strategies use. On the other hand, problem-solving strategies use subscale mean was (M = 3.67, SD = .69) with the majority of the sample 15 (71.4%), reported high level use of Problem solving strategies and Support strategies usesubscale mean was (M = 3.6, SD = .81), with more than half of the sample, 13 (61.9%), reported high level use of Support strategies use. However, the Overall strategies use mean was (M = 3.47, SD = .61), with the majority of the sample 11 (52.4%), reported medium level use of Overall strategies. Based on the main findings synthesized abovethe problem solving reading strategies appeared to be used more frequently than the other strategy types in this study. Apart from that, it appeared that support reading strategies were the next most commonly employed strategy and global reading strategies, on the other hand, are shown to be the least used reading strategies by pupils. Moreover, Overall strategies use revealed medium level use.

Abstract: The importance of the environmental dimension in the teaching-learning process of the Technological Media discipline of the Bachelor of Mechanization Education career responds to the need to take into account environmental content in the curriculum, which can and should contribute to comprehensive training of technical career teachers. A system of theoretical and empirical methods based on synthetic analytics and systematization were applied. Iit is for this reason that a didactic conception is proposed for the incorporation of the environmental dimension in the teaching-learning process of the Technological Media discipline, which is built taking into account the insufficiencies detected in this aspect and the use of the potentialities offered by the contents of the subjects that are part of the discipline, to treat one of the environmental problems that exist in Cuba, related to pollution and climate change. It is based on interdisciplinary nodes and teaching-learning situations. The proposed conception is characterized by being educational, flexible and contextualized, responding to the scientific assumptions offered by the Didactics of Higher Education and from the assumption of a structure that includes: general objective, point of view, basic concepts, principles, general requirements, those that through stages with their corresponding actions allow the implementation; all this enables the fulfillment of its objective.

Abstract: Under the background of civil military integration, military civilian joint training of space sergeants is the specific practice of implementing the national military civilian integration strategy. In view of the fact that there are some shortcomings in the training of aerospace sergeants' innovative ability at the present stage, through investigation, we can understand the current situation of the army's demand, education reform and talent training effect, and take the army's demand as the basis.
