Abstract: This study was done from November 2019 to March 2020 and aimed to assess the level of knowledge of the population of Goma about volcanic risks and volcanism several years after the Nyiragongo volcano eruption in January 2002. The population of Goma and the surrounding villages is exposed to volcanic hazards, both during eruptive and non-eruptive activity. To conduct the research, a survey questionnaire has been used to collect data from the population. The data collected in the field reported that the major part of the population of Goma has already experienced an eruptive episode and has already attended an awareness session on volcanism. The location of the sensitisation, the content of the sensitisation message, the process, the language as well as the documentation used during the sensitisation should be adapted to the target population. Almost the entire population surveyed said that an eruption of Nyiragongo is possible and presents enormous dangers for the population of Goma and its surroundings. This population also knows that in the event of an eruption, they will refer to the message of the political and administrative authorities to adopt responsible behaviour. Three-fifths of our respondents have information on the continence plan applicable to the city of Goma.

Abstract: This paper assesses the nexus between M&E data management and project performance with a focus on infrastructural projects. The paper examines and critically analyses relevant models, theories and empirical literature on M&E data management and project performance. Through examination and analysis, the paper comes up with a proposition aimed at informing further study on the M&E data management and project performance. In addition, the paper builds theoretical and conceptual ground for further studies on the research variables. From critical assessment of theories, models and empirical literature, the paper established positive relationship between M&E data management and project performance. In addition, the paper recommends two models; the project performance assessment model and the logical framework model and two theories; theory of change and dynamic capabilities theory as relevant in explaining the relationship between M&E data management and project performance. The paper gives a proposition on the nexus between M&E data management and project performance. It identifies significant gap in theoretical foundations for studies on M&E data management and project performance and recommends development of project specific models to enhance operationalized project performance assessment.

Abstract: Ethiopia is the second largest wheat producer, in Sub Saharan Africa (SSA). Ethiopia farmers are facing challenges on the price, amount and type of fertilizers to be applied on their land. Because in Ethiopia blanket fertilizer recommendation are the only practice that have been in use for the past four decades in the country. Many farmers were using blanket type of fertilizer application which is not recommended based on soil test crop nutrient requirements. This blanket recommendation often fails to take into consideration differences in resource endowment (soil type, labor capacity, climate risk) or make allowances for dramatic changes in input/output price ratio, thereby discouraging farmers from fertilizer application. The prevailing blanket fertilizer recommendation rate is unaffordable for most smallholder farmers. Thus review paper therefore focused on recommended to use the soil test based fertilizer recommendation for wheat in Ethiopia. Soil test is one of the most known and exact methods for fertilizer recommendations for plants. Soil test based fertilize application of essential plant nutrients and in optimum quantity for a specific soil crop condition in alleviating the yield, quality and its attributes of wheat production is important. Data of different paper show that yield and yield components of wheat in soil test based fertilizer recommendation were higher than the blanket type of application. The finding of this review indicated that there are viable potentials for increasing the current wheat productivity through soil test based fertilizer recommendation practices. This shows that it is recommended to use the soil test based fertilizer recommendation in Ethiopia.

Abstract: The study was conducted in Fentale and Boset districts, East Shoa Zone, Oromia Region, Ethiopia. The objective of this study was to identify morph metric variation between cattle breeds of Arsi, Kereyu and their crossbred, and to evaluate adaptive, productive (milk yield) and reproductive performance of these cattle breeds, and their crossbred in the mid rift valley of Oromia Region. Three PA’s from each district, a total of Six PA (Huluka, Kawa, Barchota, Benti, Kobo and Dakaedu) were selected purposively. Respondents’ were identified using purposive sampling technique. Kereyu, Arsi and crossbred cattle of the two were reared for, milk production, risk aversion and source of income. The major production constraints identified were feed shortage, water scarcity, disease and coverage of grazing land by invasive plants. Arsi cattle’s have long age at first mating (3.87±.17), age at first calving (4.66±0.2) and calving interval (1.50±0.125) than Kereyu (3.78±0.23, 4.52±0.25, 1.39±0.19) and crossbred (3.86±0.11, 4.64±0.12, 1.49±0.14) in both study location while the crossbred cattle have medium Values respectively. Arsi cattle have short Lactation length than kereyu and Crossbred (6.36, 7.51, 7.11months for Arsi, kereyu and crossbred respectively also similar for daily milk yield (1.26, 1.71 and 1.43). The farmers in the two district prefer Kereyu breed due to their ability to tolerate drought, disease and highly adaptable to the area where as Arsi breed of cattle was susceptible to feed shortage, water scarcity and disease than other breed in the area. This study revealed that the Arsi community in the study area prefers to mate breeding female of Arsi with bull of Kereyu breed.

Abstract: The paper reveals the nature and essence of navigation activity, some of its features and legal legitimacy, the author draws attention to the nature and elements of navigation activity, analyzes its Russian legal contexts, and conducts a comparative analysis of coordinate-time and navigation activities. The paper examines the issues of regulatory and technical regulation of navigation activities, analyzes the legislative basis of the system of technical regulation. The main postulate of the work is the urgent need to determine the effectiveness of navigation activities in accordance with the level of development of society, the need for a purposeful process of improving the level of the regulatory framework of navigation activities, which includes two components - regulatory and technical standards, their essence and content. The paper analyzes the state of navigation activity in Russia. The subject of the study is the analysis of the legislation of the Russian Federation on navigation activities in the period from 1994 to 2021, their goals, objectives and objective prerequisites. The article analyzes the international legislation in the field of standardization of a number of European countries in relation to navigation activities.
